Show & Tell Tuesday

My style has gone through some highs and lows throughout my 31 years. Thankfully, I feel as though I am finally at a place where I know what I like, what works on my shape, and honestly, what works for my life. Would I love to be jetting around in Carrie Bradshaw stilettos every day?! Possibly, but right now the right shoe, outfit, and bag are vital to the success of my day. I'll show you some of my fashion highs & lows, and then finish with my fun trip to Old Navy & trip in my closet!! Here goes nothing!!

{Just remember, it was the 80s & 90s}

..the early years..

Bangs, shoulder pads, and gnarly knits pretty much summed up my look. Not a neon article of clothing stood a chance, including the infamous windbreakers of the day! That bottom picture is seriously one of my all-time greatest shots! (EYEROLL on fleek)

..the middle ages..

I still haven't mastered the red lip at 31, and those bangs! I cropped my friends out of the picture because seriously..those bangs!!

Half-way through my senior year, I got the brilliant idea to shake my hair game up a bit. I took the Sweet Home Alabama dvd box to my hairdresser, and she cut it just like Reese Witherspoon's hair. If it didn't require so much work, I would for sure consider the cut today. {can my top knot get a witness..HALLELUJAH}

..the dark ages..

Once mommy hood hit, I'm sure many will understand this, the pictures of this momma quickly disappeared. No one, including me, wanted see pictures of the same ponytail, yoga pants, and tee shirts. We all know that mom is normally the one snapping the pictures too. Thankfully, I've gotten out of that funk, and I've embraced style a little more. Don't get me wrong, most day's I have my hair in a top knot, but at least now, I have cute clothes & a kicking makeup routine to balance my style. Here is one of my favorite 'dark ages' pictures, & it's kind of cheating because it is a Christmas session we did with my amazing friend who is a photographer!
The one thing about my style is that when I was pregnant I was one of the lucky mamas who stayed little, and I loved to dress my little bump. Some of my best style days occurred while pregnant!

This week I swung by Old Navy for a quick little trip without the hubby and kids. (It was as good as it sounds to be in Old Navy alone)! Here were a few of the outfits I tried on & a few I purchased!
romper: Large (I sized down to a medium) | jacket: medium | hat: s/m
all Old Navy

 tee: large fitted; altar'd state | denim cutoffs: size 8 Old Navy

popover: classic medium | ultra skinny jeans: size 8 (my favorites)
Old Navy

jacket: medium | tank: medium | ultra skinny jeans: size 8 (again)
Old Navy
linen top: medium | cutoffs: size 8
Old Navy
 Old Navy is my staple store for my wardrobe. With as quickly as trends change, I like being able to build around these staples. My sandals in these pictures are from Target, and they are my new favorite things ever!! Super comfortable. Super stylish!!

..my closet..

My closet it mostly full of basic pieces..pieces that can easily and quickly be layered together for a fun, cute look. My favorite tops are those that I've found at little boutiques around the Tri-Cities and while visiting. Most are hand-wash only (inconvenient), but they add so much fun to my closet. My absolute favorite little gem is The Wooden Hanger. {find them on Facebook @ The Wooden Hanger & on Instagram @ thewoodenhanger}. Here's what I have my eye on from TWH!!
so fitting for my life!

 It's almost football time in Tennessee..which that event requires a separate post about appropriate Volunteer football attire!

I linked up with Andrea from momfessionals for today's Show & Tell Tuesdays. Here are some upcoming S&Ts...

I also linked up with Fizz & Frosting!

  1. So glad to "meet" another Vol! We're on opposite ends of the state, but there is a lot of similarity in our closets!

    1. I'm sure your closet is full of that beautiful shade of orange too! YAY..we are already excited about this upcoming football season!
