This Means War XII

Today we end our series through the Armor of God.  This has been a beneficial series as we look at what it takes to stand against the devil.  Some would gloss over this verse and not really spend any time on it.  However, I want us to examine Ephesians 6:18…

praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints”

There is absolutely no way we can overlook the importance of prayer in our fight against the devil.  The aspect of prayer that I believe would be the most vital is that it shows our dependence upon God.  What we are doing when we pray is asking God to work through us.  We ask God because we are acutely aware that we, in no way, can defeat the devil on our own.  It takes the power of God to get us through.

Notice that Paul instructs them to “keep alert with all perseverance.”  Paul implores us to make sure that we are always looking for the attacks of the devil.  It is much easier to head off an attack of the devil if you are always on your guard.  We must always be alert to how the devil is looking to attack us.

Finally, we are to pray for one another.  We are to be going to God praying for one another that we win the battle through God.  When is the last time you lifted up another Christian as they battle the devil?  It is the responsibility of every believer to pray for each other.  We are not the enemy, the devil is.

As I conclude, I implore you to fight the good fight of faith.  Put on the whole armor of God and stand against the attacks that come your way.  May God bless you as you stand for Christ.
