It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Let me begin by confessing, I am pretty much a grinch.  I am not much on all the Christmas hoopla.  It really aggravates me to no end how people end up being ultra religious at this time.  It also gripes my nerves how Thanksgiving has become overlooked so much.

With that being said, I feel myself starting to loosen up a little.  I have done several things this year that I never remember doing.  I helped (with the kids) put ornaments on the tree.  I research and bought gifts (online for delivery - does that count?) for the kids.  I am planning a trip to the Speedway in Lights.  There are just a few of the things that I seem to be doing this year that are different.

I was thinking about this the other day, and I was trying to figure out why this was.  I truly believe this is because I am learning what really matters in life.  The joy I get from seeing my kids get joy is unbelievable.  I am all the time trying to think of things that will make them happy.  It is truly one of the greatest joys in my life.

Maybe you are like me and have trouble relaxing and having a good time.  Take it from me, take inventory of the things in your life that you love the most, and do as much as you can to cultivate those things.  I look forward to spending a lot of time with my wife and kids during the coming days. I look forward to this being the most wonderful time of my year.

  1. So very true. I love Christmas and confess I believe Thanksgiving is just a gate way to Christmas. 😁
