Today is my mom, Connie Hensley's, birthday.  I will not dare tell you how old she is.  If she chooses to tell you, that's her prerogative.  I want to take this post to write her an open letter to her.  Please know I will not be able to exhaust my thoughts in this blog post.  My thoughts about my mother would take a series of posts.

Let me begin by telling you, I love you!  I know there have been times when I didn't act like I did, but I do more than you will ever know.  Your love for me has been unconditional.  Your love for me has lasted through the many ups and downs of my life.  You are easy for me to love because of how much you have shown me your love for me.

I also want to tell you, thank you!
~Thank you for being the best mother a man could ask for.
~Thank you for praying for me when you had no idea what else you could do.
~Thank you for being a listening ear when I wanted to vent to someone.
~Thank you for being so stinking nosy and finding out all the crap I did.  In a twisted way it has helped me become the man I am today.  And though I was not thankful for it then, I am now.
~Thank you for never giving up on me.  You were one of the few people that, even in my worst days, never stopped believing I could be and do better.
~Thank you for helping my family when I was in no position to do so.  You, along with a few others, were a refuge for them, and I am eternally grateful.
~Thank you for chewing my butt out when it was needed.  It may not have seemed as though I was listening, but I always was.
~Thank you for allowing me to make many mistakes so I would learn what's important.  You weren't so sheltering that I wasn't able to learn and grow from the experiences of life.
~Thank you for exemplifying what it is to love the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.  Though you are not perfect, I truly believe you have sought the will of God as much as anyone I have ever known.
~Thank you for being my mom.  Technically, you really didn't have a choice, but thank you anyway.  HAHA!

I hope you know I could go on and on about how much you mean to me.  Please know that I love you, and hope you celebrate many more birthdays.  I thank God for you everyday!
